Thursday saw our Gordon complex become a centre for self-care, wellbeing and indulgence as we hosted our third annual Carers’ Pamper Day as part of National Carers’ Week 2023.

Designed to show our appreciation for the tireless efforts of carers in our community, this year’s event was a collaborative effort between Ku-ring-gai Council, Carers Gateway—Your Side, Uniting (an NDIS partner in the Community) and GPUC. We were also lucky enough to receive a $300 grant from Carers NSW, which covered the cost of food for our guests.
The Main Hall accommodated five therapy areas: one facial, one manicure, and three massage stations.

In addition, the Library hosted reflexology sessions and the Yellow Room held meditation sessions. Help Desks with community service information for carers were also set up throughout the complex.

During the course of the day we provided over 50 relaxing therapy and treatment sessions to our guest carers. It was fabulous to see people come out of the various sessions looking revived and relaxed. Many of our guests told us how grateful they were to have received such wonderful treatments.
Lucky door prizes of donated gifts were won by Pam T (a ‘Pandora’ necklace and earring set) and Anna (a‘Lush’ bath gift box) and every guest was given a special carer gift pack beautifully prepared by our wonderful
Friday Fun Connections families.

We extend a huge thank you to our indefatigable team of volunteers who assisted with sandwich making, morning tea, cleaning up and making countless cups of tea and coffee—we couldn’t have done it without your
incredibly generous help.

Our sincere thanks also to Lesley Burt for all her work in co-ordinating this fantastic community event—very well done!.
